About Nicholas Harper

Nicholas Harper has been a professional artist for 30 years and the owner/curator of the Rogue Buddha Gallery for 26 years.  In addition to being Atelier trained in figurative art, Harper received his degree in Retail Merchandising with an emphasis in Clothing Design from the University of Minnesota.

Before opening the Rogue Buddha Gallery, Harper worked for clothing designer/photographer/hair stylist Kit Rogers, a 3M think tank and professional artist, Thomas Kinkaid. Perhaps less glamorously, Harper also worked pouring concrete and as a salesman in several retail stores.

While working at these various jobs, often, working two at the same time, he continued to paint and exhibit in coffee shops and night clubs, refusing to let his creative impulses stagnate, even if it only meant painting one hour per day.

Harper is a life long student of creativity and proponent of its inherent value in our everyday life.

"I think the greatest gift we have is the ability to be the designers of our day, and in many ways, to be the architects of our life. That for me is the greatest form of art. Being a painter is just the icing on a cake that's still baking and has a long way to go before it's done..."
